APPLE iMAC 27” 5K RETINA DESKTOP
When I made the switch to filming and uploading all of my YouTube videos in 4K, I knew I needed a beast of a computer to handle all of the high resolution footage. I maxed out this puppy and she’s been my video and photo editing companion ever since. If you’re serious about filmmaking and photography, I highly suggest eventually upgrading your setup to an iMac or equivalent desktop with high tech specs so that you are not hindered by your computer’s ability to quickly render and process footage.
APPLE MAGIC TRACKPAD 2
Editing on my iMac was basically impossible without a trackpad. The multi-touch gestures that you are capable of utilizing on this trackpad streamlines your editing workflow so that you can edit quicker, more efficiently, and more productively. I might even go so far as to say don’t bother getting a desktop computer for editing unless you plan on getting some kind of trackpad to go with it - that’s how much I rely on this accessory and how beneficial it has been to my filmmaking and photography.
CATECK 3-PORT USB HUB & SD/TF READER
When you’re constantly plugging in your SD card into your iMac, you’ll quickly notice how annoying it can be to fish around for the SD slot on the back of the iMac. When you’re like me, plugging in and taking out multiple SD cards from the SD slot on the back of your iMac multiple times per day, the SD card slot placement just isn’t practical. Luckily, this little guy from Cateck seamlessly fixes that issue by plugging into one of the USB ports on the back of your iMac and allows for SD cards to be plugged in on the front of the iMac with a matching stainless steel hub. I have an entire video on my YouTube video talking about this accessory because of how much I love it. It’s another must-have for your iMac editing setup.
PHILIPS HUE WHITE & COLOR LIGHTSTRIP PLUS
No editing desk is complete with a little LED backlighting, right? I’m obsessed with Philips Hue products, and this smart light strip is one of my favorite smart lighting accessories of all time. The LED backlighting that you see in the back of all of my “desk setup” videos is with this light strip right here and I’m absolutely in love with it.
